What is the role of multi-language content in SEO.

In this article you will read why languages are important to your SEO strategy.

Firstly, I would like to welcome you in my blog. In this blog I will write articles regarding SEO tips and how websites can be helped from SEO to increase their statistics to the maximize.
Also in this blog I will try to be very specific and I will give an example now.
We hear experts or other people to suggest to website owners to add languages. The simple answer to this question is that languages help the reader to understand the content on his own language. Unfortunately, this is not the golden key we are looking for.

I suggest you to include languages that is not your target audience for the following reasons.


  • Search engines can understand that you love every single visitor who visits your website. The below statistics shows hypothetical visitors. As we can see 70% are coming from Spain. The rest 30% is not important for you? 
Hypothetically the most of the persons will prioritize Spain (70%) and some of them Mexico (7%) & Peru (8%) which sound for me very logical. Visitor came from Search engine, so search engines companies they want the visitor to be satisfied to the result that they click on it.
For some websites the statistic numbers are different as we can see in the below picture. Every single user is important.  10 languages can be hypothetically the 10-15% of your total visitors which is a number that you can't ignore. 
  • Every google version (google.co.uk , google.com , google.gr), gives different results. On the non English google websites versions you can search an English term but because the google version is not the global one you have got good chances the search results to be the foreign language version.  In the below example I wrote at google.gr ''Κόστος ταξί'' which menas ''taxi fares'' and one of the first page results was the English version. We can't know what will get rank so at least we have to be sure that we try everything. 
  • You create extra pages for ranking on your blog/website in case you are using only one domain and not multiple domains (.gr , .it , co.uk).
  • One more important advantage is that you create extra combinations of Meta keywords & Meta Descriptions. 

So my question. What do you prefer?

  • To have a single website with 3 languages and 100 pages?
  • To have 3 country domains website which the only connections are the words & logo inside the domain with each site 33 pages. Big companies can have 100+ pages and maintain good their websites if they want. If you prefer this point its better to choose the hosting of the website to be on the same country where your country domain is.
Also I am not recommending to use country code domains if you are a small to medium size company or website. When I am talking small to medium size this depends of your operations. Let’s say you are 2-3 persons and you don’t have time to maintain only 1 website and you write 1-2 articles per month. In this situation prefer to have 1 domain and good. The domain country codes is completely different website. It got some tricks to show google that is the same content which need a lot of effort.
